CHRISTINA LOPEZ & TIMMY HARN
Christina LOPEZ (b. 1995, Mandaluyong) and Timmy HARN (b. 1987, Quezon City) are artists based in the Philippines. Christina Lopez’s practice spans printmaking, sculpture, installation, sound, and moving image, while Timmy Harn’s practice is centered on the filmmaking process, with projects ranging from full-length to short to video installations. Their individual practices intersect through a shared filmic and cinematic approach to image-making, translated across a range of media, including photography, moving image, video, and film. They have a shared fascination in the mystical and the occult, and also in the use of both dated and new technologies to explore contemporary narratives and colonial histories. Their works are often iterative, taking on multiple formats, while utilizing layered storytelling.
UNMAKE LAB
Unmake Lab (Founded in 2016, Seoul) is a Seoul-based media art collective founded in 2016 by Binna CHOI and Sooyon SONG. Their practice investigates artificial intelligence through the lens of ‘dataset ecology’, examining how dataset, technological systems, environments, and forms of power become entangled. Working with a methodology they call ‘synthetic ethnography’, they deliberately misuse, distort, and amplify technological mechanisms to expose their underlying assumptions and structures. In doing so, they turn the predictive logic of machine learning back toward the past, using prediction as a means to reflect on the political and ecological conditions embedded in data and technological systems.
